I've archived the old Fantasy/Sci-Fi thread in order to differentiate between two very distinct genres. Please do recommend your favorite SCIENCE FICTION books & series here!

A new personal favorite in the sci-fi category mixes things up by meshing folk lore with space travel.

Dragon Pearl (Thousand Worlds, #1) by Yoon Ha Lee Tiger Honor (Thousand Worlds, #2) by Yoon Ha Lee

I'll also add the City Dragons trilogy, which is sci-fi with dragons. I'd actually categorize it as cyber punk, in large part because of the urban setting, the gang wars, and the mixing of tecnology with traditional fantasy elements. It's so cool.

City of Thieves (Battle Dragons #1) by Alex London City of Speed (Battle Dragons #2) by Alex London City Of Secrets by Alex London

I read Grace Needs Space! last year. This graphic novel explores the galaxy with Grace, who tags along on her space-roving mom's business trip over the summer. Slightly melancholy, emotionally honest, and beautifully illustrated!

I'm not quite done, but I am absolutely loving this duology by John David Anderson! It's got a Coalition of alien races, a misfit-ish crew of space pirates, and a family whose only remaining home is each other. Action-packed!

Stowaway (The Icarus Chronicles, #1) by John David Anderson Homebound (The Icarus Chronicles, #2) by John David Anderson

I've been on the lookout for middle grade sci-fi/adventure. This set looks great - thanks for the recommendation!
