When you've been around for 3000 years, you rack up a lot of stories! For this challenge, you'll be diving into some lesser known periods of Jewish history with historical books that are set during times other than the Shoa (Holocaust), World War II, or Biblical times.

Check out our book lists for inspiration, tell us about any books you know that fit the bill, and remember you are free to read any book that fits the criteria for this challenge, not just the ones on these lists. A book that covers a long span of time and includes one or both of the above periods is fine. Books must have one or more Jewish main characters - in the case of a nonfiction book this means the book's focus subject or community must be Jewish.
