Probably for the opportunity to dance for a sport team with greater aspiration to become more or discovered by other entertainment industry people would be my guess. Their pay wasn't great but they loved the dancing and the spotlight and the "perks". Some of them actually enjoyed the fantasy kidnapping didn't they?
It's hard to believe they'd be so desperate to participate in fantasy kidnappings. Maybe a couple but this was really over the top. And, to return home groggy, not knowing what happened? I wouldn't be repeating that experience.
She had the power to bump them from the roster at will, which perfectly set up the side business but she'd have given me the creeps after a bit.
Lol. Creepy it was. Honestly, what kind of boss uses kidnapping to build trust and bonding among her employees?? That's all kinds of cray-cray.
It is all about pressure, and losing your place in the team if you don't do as management says. There are plenty of similar real life cases.
Agreed. When I saw that these kinds of weird activities were listed as team-building exercises, my antennae went haywire. Even I, who am allergic to team-building as manipulation, couldn't see how blinded these women were by fame and fortune!
But how much fame and fortune did these girls really get? This gig paid next to nothing. The only thing they got was exposure and the possibility to turn that into money. Still, it was quite the opportunity and obviously it was highly competitive. But, to basically sell your self-esteem for this team - that was really hard to understand.
