I thought Sage was intelligent, resourceful and cool under pressure. I suppose that her idea of getting herself kidnapped wasn't the most rational but she was desperate to discover the truth.
I thought going to that interview with Booker without a safety net (ditching Johnny) and then giving up her phone was really silly. She suspected these people.
I'm with you here. Her career as a serious investigative reporter would have been over very soon with these kinds of failures.
But, at that time, she didn't know exactly how all the puzzle pieces connected. She had already decided to do another kidnap to try to get more information, Ashley hadn't been found yet and she was running out of time. She wanted answers and the only way to get them was to gain access to ask questions. But, giving up her phone was not smart at all.
I was understanding, even though a little shaky, until she gave up the phone. That was a step out of bounds.
