hello! welcome to buddy reads!
i made this group because i have always struggled to find someone to do buddy reads with me so this is a group just for buddy reads! i want this to be a helpful group, as well as a safe environment to make friends. so let me explain how it will work.
⋆⭒˚｡REQUESTING A BUDDY READ｡˚⭒⋆
- you will notice that there are folders labeled as genres. you will find the appropriate genre for the book you want to buddy read, and make a request in the request a --------- buddy read thread. (the blank will be the genre)
- after requesting a buddy read, you may make your own topic or request a mod to make one for you. your topic should include:
♡︎ the names of everyone participating in the specific buddy read
♡︎ title of the book you will be reading (author is optional)
- to make sure everyone's needs are being met in terms of privacy, please have an initial post at the beginning of each thread stating the following:
♡︎ repeat names and book title
♡︎ state whether or not this is an open* or closed** buddy read
*open buddy read: anyone at any given time may request to join in the reading and discussing of the book if it is okay with those who originally started the buddy read
**closed buddy read: this is a buddy read between a specific group of people and outside members are not permitted to join in discussion about the book.
⋆⭒˚｡GETTING STARTED｡˚⭒⋆
- once you have found a buddy (or multiple buddies!) and have created your topic, please clarify all these things with everyone reading the book:
♡︎ when will the buddy read start?
♡︎ how often will we discuss the book? (every 50 pages, every chapter, etc.)
- after everything in your thread is correct, you are ready to start reading and discussing!
⋆⭒˚｡FINISHED?｡˚⭒⋆
- once you are finished with your buddy read, we ask that you remove your thread when you are ready. we invite you to delete it at your leisure, however if the thread is inactive for one month, a mod will delete it unless you have asked us not to.
