Phair (sphair) | 50 comments If you are OK with some erotic content try Out of the Black Land by Kerry Greenwood. Looks at period of Nefertiti and Akhenaten from pov of a scribe.

Agatha Christie also wrote a play about Akhnaten :Akhnaton: A Play In Three Acts that was interesting.

Fiona Hurley (fiona_hurley) | 305 comments Agatha Christie also wrote a historical mystery set in Ancient Egypt,Death Comes as the End, which I must get around to reading sometime. Christie's second husband was an archaeologist and she spent some time with him in the Middle East, which I guess is when she was inspired to write this one.

Christie's other book set in Egypt is Death on the Nile, which is not strictly speaking HF since its setting was contemporary when it was written. However, for a modern reader, it provides an interesting picture of rich tourists in mid-20th-century Egypt, as well as being a top-class classic mystery.

It's actually a trilogy, and they were among my favourite books when I read them, I think, more than 20 years ago.

EDIT: And now I see that there are 9 books. We only had the first three translated into Croatian when I read them. I wonder if someone continued to translated the series.
