Well well, this continues to tie in very neatly with Deadhouse Gates. We finally know who the Toblakai is.

Ahh indeed TS, we learn that the Toblaki is actually Karsa and he is the one who we saw before with Leomann and Sha'ik in DG. I'm starting to see the connections slowly and I have to say it's a good feeling being able to pick up on them :D

I certainly worried for a moment over Torvald when we thought he was dead, but of course with Erikson you never know and luckily this time Torvald came back into the story pretty quickly.

So now Karsa has escaped and he's also developed a lot in that he no longer just charges headlong into the fights. I think Torvald's certainly been a great influence on him and I really enjoy their relationship so I hope we see more of them together soon.

While I do not have ice in my veins, very rarely do I have noticeable reactions while reading. When Silgar recaptures Karsa I was very upset. Karsa has been through so much pain in just this first part, I was happy he was free traveling with his buddy. Evan was so right about the great bromances in this series.

I totally forget Toblakai from deadhouse gates. Excellent that the people of Shaik are coming into this
