That sounds like a great idea, to expand your horizon! I just nominated "Cursed Bunny", which is Korean, actually! And "The Dark Domain" is Polish!

I already voted for some older piece that Dan suggested. I guess if the Bunny doesn't win, I will have to read it separately!
I guess I should offer, from my [former] neck of the woods, Nikolai Gogol Village Evenings Near Dikanka and Mirgorod (Ukraine/Russia, XIX century) - notice, in this edition, not all are weird;
Victor Pelevin (Russia, modern). Any book. Like, say, By V. Pelevin Ampir V / Empire V Hardcover

Following somebody's post, I started thinking how cool it'd be to have a better exposure to authors/books from all those countries out there. Or at least, some.
I do not strive to necessarily read something from each country currently on the map, for sure, especially as borders kept changing. But at least loosely.
So, obviously we read a lot of both, British and US lit.
Lord Dunsany can be counted for Ireland, for now (partially what I mean by "loosely").
We read a Chinese ghost book a couple years ago here.
[I read several Japanese books, so not as much a priority for me, but there are really cool ghost stories there too.]
We read a Norwegian book in December.
That Gus Moreno story I did not like about a cucuy in the wall (This Thing Between Us will count for Mexican.
Now, I am looking for recommendations of books from other countries/cultures. I am going to also look for general fiction, but here, of course, looking specifically for weird. I am looking for recommendations of genuinely good books, not looking to read meh stuff just to fill the gap.
Especially starting with:
Korea
India
Bulgaria
any African country (excl. Egypt)
but really, any place. If you read something and it was great, or heard something, and think it might be great - share!
