The reason why Lucas was under surveillance was because after the assault on Carla Ruiz, he became a suspect, primarily because of the gun that was traced to Evidence and some other factors. What say you? Was it enough to point to a man with so many commendations, no prior history and an obvious love of women?

IAB can't overlook any suspect, even if the evidence is weak. The real reason the chief wanted to scratch Lucas off the list of suspects quickly, is because he wanted him on the job. Lucas is perfect. He is a gamer and they need to track down a gamer.

I did have a tough time imagining a guy who really "loved" women being a suspect in this attempted murder, but Sharon does show that it cleared the way for the chief of police to get Lucas out into the field to investigate.
