I know I shouldn't, but I like Lucas. He is a terrible cad, and that will not change in the near future. He is a typical 80s male character that male authors love. I think he is going to be a good father. Something about how he accepted Jennifer's announcement made me think he wanted to be involved with his child. She did trick him into fatherhood. Many men would pull away under those circumstances.
I like him as a detective. He has good instincts. I want to see how this character changes throughout the series.
Getting all my "Rs" to spell the character names this year will be easy. :-)
I will be interested to see how his character develops in future books, if I read a few. I'm not sure what I think about Jennifer, about what kind of mother she will be. I would hope to be proved wrong in my suspicions of both of them, so that the child would grow up in a stable home.
It's hard for me to look at the book from the standpoint of the 80's. My thought is why can't Jennifer just raise her child alone - which I know is a very now - this time frame thought. She knows Lucas is unfaithful. What is the upside for her to marry him? I'm assuming he is smart enough to do a pre-nup since he should know himself pretty well.
If they do pursue this storyline - I don't see it working out.
Like Sharon, I liked him despite all his bad actions. He is a fascinating guy for sure. I am very curious to see what happens with Jennifer, especially since the synopsis for book 2 has him sleeping with yet another woman 😂.
