Valancourt Books discussion

Hello

Michael McDowell is one of my favorite authors thanks to Valancourt Books getting me curious about The Elementals. I've already read The Elementals, The Amulet, Cold Moon Over Babylon and Katie over the last few months. I also now own Gilded Needles, Toplin and the first Blackwater book and plan to read those sometime soon.

I've never read anything by John Blackburn, but I would definitely like to check his stuff out. Does anyone have any favorites by him, or suggestions for a person like me who's new to Blackburn? Bury Him Darkly, Our Lady of Pain and A Scent of New Mown Hay have caught my attention.

Our Lady of Pain is a good book. I can recommend it.

Nice scores on Toplin and Gilded Needles! I've been getting heavily into McDowell lately too.

I believe I have a copy of A Ring of Roses around here from Valancourt. He is an author that is new to me as well.

Our Lady of Pain and Children of the Night may be the best introduction to his works. A Scent of New Mown Hay was his first book so you can always start there if you have a copy.

That sounds a lot like when I discovered Michael McDowell. I went on over-kill for a few months. :)

Michael McDowell, AND Stephen Gregory for me, now..... ;)

I've decided that I want to read Stephen Gregory's The Woodwitch. Maybe I'll obsess over his work too.

So, I started a thread regarding John Blackburn and here I am talking about Stephen Gregory. I finished The Woodwitch last night and after finishing the book I felt rather dumbfounded, but in a good and somewhat ghoulish kind of way. I can't say I've ever read anything else quite like it. ED and Wales will forever be linked together in my mind. I plan on checking out more from S. Gregory! Thank you for bringing his name to my attention.

I do plan on reading some Blackburn soon too.
