Hi everyone. I don't know who will end up reading this post or when they will read it. However, I just finished this book this week and it's the first book that I have rated five stars. I absolutely adored it.
The characters were so real and compelling. There were some characters that I loved and others that I hated. But the characters and their actions were never flat.
The writing was exquisite. I loved the prose, especially in the final chapters. It was full of quotes that were touching and made me think.
I loved how the story was weaved together. Sometimes books annoy me when the chapters keep switching between characters, but I never felt that way with this book.
I also really loved how the author used magical realism with the characters of Ava and the heron and their beautiful relationship.
This is a perfect book as far as I am concerned.
I'm really interested in reading books that gave you a similar feeling. Maybe they're other historical fiction books with magical realism. Maybe they are a different genre. But something with great characters and great writing.
