Oh dear I forgot to update this, but have actually read a little...

I read:

The Language of Languages - a collection of presentations/texts by Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o on his view of languages policy and translations as the great connetor (that is the 'language of languages' in the title. He has been deliberately not publishing in English unless the work also publishes in Gikuyu - so I'm quite sure this was...
-> not written in English.

Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight: An African Childhood
I had been putting this off as I am not too fond of the genre, but it came up in the TBR-buster challenge, so I read it - and it turned out to be a really good book.
-> I'll put it in a Free Choice

Woman, Eat Me Whole: Poems
I enjoyed this - Do read it!
-> Poetry

Tekster om hjem
Kind of, but not entirely a diaspora story, technically his father may have been diapora - but children of the diaspora are also part of the diapora story, right? - It's essays/thought pieces on growing up i Denmark with an absent African dad, racialisation, the feeling of home etc. A really good read.
-> Diapora

In the End, It Was All About Love
About living i Berlin as a black man with the ever present neonazis, racism, general fear, loneliness and lack of luck on the dating scene (for anything long term anyway). About struggling financially to not sell out one's principles - and finally about the trip to his fathers grave in northern Uganda.
-> Tagging this for the "new read" as it's from 2021.

I'll update them in my list above!

Sorry I missed both your comments!

David Diop was a good book, but obviously heavy theme wise... Okwonga was much lighter and a very nice read - i really enjoyed it.

I'm still missing these two:
Short story
& North Africa!

But have two weeks left, so I should be able to finish with a little effort?
