I enjoyed the character development of each of the women in the text. Each of the main characters needed one another and learned how to come together in such a unique way. Collectively, they were able to find peace in the midst of the trauma. I’ve learned we cannot live this life in isolation. We must seek the strength of others in the areas where we are not strong in ourselves. Happy reading!
I think Sophie's strength comes from the loving childhood she had. That foundation seems to have given her an optimism that things could be better and to persevere through challenges. Belinda was able to draw strength from having a stable physical home, and Sophie was able to lean on and rely on Belinda after the earthquake and fires.
Enjoyed this book. I feel that Sophie took strength from her relationships with women to help her overcome her situations. Belinda took strength from Sophie during her time of need. Candace took comfort from Sophie's love for Kat. Personally, I've drawn strength from my female friendships when I've gone through difficulty. Being able to discuss my thoughts and feelings with a female friend has been helpful in sorting out my thoughts and feelings.
I agree with all of you. I enjoyed reading this book and watching the characters develop. Seeing their bonds and friendships grow was really a powerful reminder of how important friendships are in our lives.
I found The Nature of All Fragile Things a quick and easy read. I enjoyed both the storyline and the setting. I liked that the author took an historical event and used it as a catalyst. The combination of the earthquake, fire, and perceived death caused an unbreakable bond between Sophie and Belinda that grew over the years. I also liked how the author threw in little twists in the book.

Where did you see the strength of each woman individually and collectively?
Where have you drawn your strength from as a woman or where have you seen a woman draw her strength?
When have you relied upon the strength of one or more women?
