Okay so I just started re-reading this, and I'm only abut 30 pages in, but Simon and Clary just kissed. Like I knew that was coming, but it still grosses me out. I don't understand "Climon shippers"
I finished this section now! I love the one line where Maia is talking about how its sweet that Jace loves his sister like that, and Simon goes "Yeah, it's precious" I love Simon so much as a character. I didn't notice many new things in this section, but im excited to continue on reading this book!
I was trying to remember why I was less enthusiastic about this book, and then self-destructive, angry Jace happened :(
I like the beginning but I like CoB better so far... It's good reflecting all this. I don't ship Climon at all but I can't help but think it's a little cute! For the whole series I never really liked Maia and I still don't really like her... And I like Maryse, I kinda understand where she's coming from the second time around, and I think I'm looking deeper into her character now. Hmm... I think that's it... I don't really like Jace being all mopey and I like Bat. Yep that's all! Hope that everyone's enjoying it so far whether it's their first run through or not!
I totally don't like SimonXClary... *grunt*But I like it so far! Even tho I'm getting a late start on CoA...
This is my first time reading the series and I can honestly say that I think clary and Simon are cute but I don't necessarily ship them. Maia erks me and I understand what Maryse is feeling and that she just may not know how to express it.
Hate. Hate. Haaaaaaaaaaaate Simon and Clary. Dear God. A pet peeve of mind is best friend relationships. They annoy the crap out of me. Simon and Clary just seem so bad for each other. Clary clearly isn't interested in Simon. She defines him as "comfortable" so basically she's settling because she just lost her preferred option (Jace). Compare how she reacted romantically to Jace and how she reacts romantically to Simon and you almost feel sad for Simon. Clary forgets about him so easily. I'd be so sad if my best friend easily forgot about me. I also don't like Simon because of how he goes about this relationship. He just suddenly claims she's his girlfriend, is clingy, and gets jealous easily (understandable, but it's still annoying!!). It's clear that they're badly written for each other and I'd argue this is done on purpose. You see the way Simon acts around Maia and they seem like a better couple than Simon and Clary. So yeah. Break them up already and get Maia and Simon together.Anyway, so far I like the beginning of this book more than the intro to City of Bones. I found myself very interested from the beginning to find out what happens next compared to the first book where I didn't get interested till what I believe was a few chapters in.
I can see why some people like this book less than the first though. It seems like Jace is a lot of people's favorite character and so far he hasn't been the greatest, but I still enjoy reading the scenes he's in. The bar scene not as much, but the Silent City was interesting. Also I miss the whole gang being together. Right now everyone is kinda separated.
Luke is still my favorite character. I like how he immediately recognized what Jace was doing at the bar and how he's a father figure to Clary again. He's got a good head on his shoulders where as a lot of the other characters seem to be chasing after theirs. He isn't perfect and I feel like he's going to lose his marbles too, but I dunno I really like him. Jace is a close second. I feel like I'm going to like Jace a lot more as the series progresses since his character is still developing.
Oh Climon. I actually like them but not the same as Clace.
Even rereading this book for the millionth time, it is still so heartbreaking seeing the dynamics between Jace and Clary in this book - SO MANY FEELS.

What are you guys thinking of the sequel so far? Is it a satisfying beginning?
Make sure your comments don't go into chapter 7! We don't want to spoil anyone :)
