This thread can be focused on the WoK and any theories/feelings about it! No spoilers from later books in the series are allowed for this thread.

I just finished rereading WoK! It was even better than I remembered it being (even though I think this was like my 4th read through at least LOL).

I still cried at all the sad parts and felt so much emotion!

Seeing Shallan, Kaladin, and Dalinar develop throughout the book was so amazing, but knowing how their lives will be impacted in later books left me even more worried for them.

It’s crazy how even on my 4th read through I can still think, “maybe this time will be different!” When getting to a sad part of the story.

I decided to read all the interludes as well and I forgot how much I enjoy those little side stories! Specifically, I liked the interlude with the PureLake, and I don’t think I caught it before that those “outsiders” were looking for our old friend 😉.

Who else is rereading WoK or reading it for the first time?? Let me know your thoughts!!

Marwan | 133 comments My favorite book in the series. Yes, WoR and RoW might be more enjoyable, Oathbringer might have the most epic backstory in history, but the Way of Kings introduced me to Roshar!

I remember reading each page with reverence, relishing in the immersive world that a genius writer has crafted, discovering not just incredible, relatable characters, but a world fleshed out with majestic animals and plants and storms that felt so alien, yet the story felt so human. And I remember asking myself in awe, how can one person imagine all that!

Everything about WoK was perfect, and it's ending is still my favorite emotional payoff in any story I have ever come across in any format wether movie, book, game or anime.

I loved the interludes! I get why people skip them sometimes and even when I was reading it was kind of irritating to jump from the main plot into something that you have no idea about, but each and every time, I was hooked by the end of the interlude and I get angry again that they ended xdd!

SAH.Bookmom | 35 comments I just finished it and loved it!

I really do like Shallan and I’m excited to see where her character goes next.

I loved how Dalinar was seen as the crazy for the code he chose to live by. It really does show that those with moral and honourable standards are seen as insane by those who don’t hold to them.

I liked the growth with Adolin in seeing his father’s desire to keep to the codes. Even when he doubted he still respected his father.

King Ehlokar made me so mad. He was such a child. He had his moments of intelligence but man! I couldn’t stand him haha. That shows the greatness of the writing when you don’t like a character.

I loved the interludes! They’re little nuggets of connections and puzzle pieces.

Such an amazing book. The hints of who the parshendi are and then the reveal at the end was shock and clarity at the same time haha. Always the moment of “how did I not figure that out sooner”

Marwan | 133 comments Epic fantasy was reinvented with The Way of Kings!
Glad you loved it, and it only gets bigger and better from here!!

📚 Alana (professional book nerd) So far, I’m only on the third SA book, but this was my least favorite. It got really interesting towards the end, but it took a longgggggggg time for me to get into it!!

Marwan | 133 comments That is a very valid opinion! Oathbringer is not on the same level with WoK, WoR, or RoW. Except of course for the last 200 pages but that's just typical Sanderson!
The good news is that Rhythm is just as good as Words of Radiance!

📚 Alana (professional book nerd) I think there may have been a miscommunication on my part. :) I struggled to get into WoK and I’m enjoying oathbringer! 😂

Marwan | 133 comments Ohh okay got you xD.
Oathbringer was my least favorite but it's all about perspective and taste and that is a good thing!

📚 Alana (professional book nerd) Im definitely enjoying Oathbringer! I am almost done, and it’s very interesting. Seeing Shallan’s “issue” ;) so much more is interesting, and Dalinars past! I find it interesting how much he changed. (Trying soooo hard not to spoil 🤣)

Marwan | 133 comments Despite Oathbringer being my least favorite, Dalinar's past is still my favorite Stormlight plot-line ever!
