Well, in not so many words, Frost says he has tasted enough desire and agrees that the world will end in fire; but he also knows a lot of hate that it makes sense it will be destroyed by ice.

I read that he takes these ideas of tasting desire and being frozen over in hatred from Dante's nine rings of hell in Inferno. But Frost once asked an astronomer how he believed the earth would end, and he couldn't decide; however, he suggested it would either be burned up with fire because of the sun's closeness -- I was told this too when I was a child (in the 70s); or it will end by being lost in space, and freezing over -- which I was also warned of something similar as a child, of the coming ice age (also in the 70s).

Oh, silly man! The earth is not going to be lost in space, and freeze. But there is something of truth about the fire because God's word tells us that He is going to use fire to destroy the earth. Just make sure you are on the right side with God, and you have nothing to worry about.
