Here's a summary: This is an epistolary young adult romantic mystery novel. A dying man relates a story to his daughter regarding a young man from her past. When Dr. Thatcher's son falls ill, he is approached by Quinn Farstride, a school friend of his daughter Melanie. Quinn convinces Dr. Thatcher to accept one of his kidneys to keep his son alive, but only on the condition that Melanie must never find out. Dr. Thatcher agrees, and spends the rest of his years trying to track down the young man to properly thank him. Dr. Thatcher embarks on an adventure following the wake of this strange boy's endeavors of insane generosity and manic benevolence.
