Dark-Hunters, Daimons, zombies, demons, shapeshifters— another day in the life of Nick Gautier– and those are just his friends. But now that he’s accepted the demon that lives inside him, he must learn to control it and temper the very emotions that threaten the lives of everyone he cares for. Something that’s hard to do while trying to stay off the menus of those who want his head on a platter. And no one wants him more than the dark gods who created his race. Now that they know where he is, they will stop at nothing to reclaim him. And without knowing it, Nick has just embraced the one person he should never have trusted. The one person who will hand him over to his enemies to get back the life they lost.

Nick has finally accepted his fate, now he must learn to defy his destiny, and the dark, deadly forces that will stop at nothing to destroy everyone he loves so that they can again return to the world of man and own it

I'm gonna be cautious and keep this short (and as spoiler-free as possible) for now.

Awesome book, LOTS of info. Some theories were confirmed, and there was other info that I definitely did NOT see coming! =D

Go figure, my friends library system hasn't gotten their copies in, so I have to wait 1-4 weeks for them to get them in, let alone process and distribute to the holds list.

Dude I can't wait either. I spoiled things a bit for myself as well reading Daoud's spoilers earlier this morning. But they aren't sinking in just ye ttil I read it. Can not wait to get there. But still doing the victory dance over Cherise! I knew she had to be "more" than was let on.

Oh I just thought she was more than human. And that is all I can say. Not sure how you feel about spoilers but if you find where Charlotte originally posted about her theories. Another member Daoud, put up some stuff there about the book and some important stuff.

No worries, I'll be there with ya. Like two of my library books finally are coming in. But neither are the first book of the mini series I was going to read and get out the way. >_<

I told my library to hurry up and get it in the nicest way possible.

Here's how I told them to hurry up.

Instinct is the newest release in Sherrilyn Kenyon's Chronicle of Nick's series. It was only publicly released in the States on the 31st of March 2015, so I can understand that it might take the library some time before they can get their hands on it, but if you do get it, I'd love to be one of the first to get my hands on it, and that's why I requested it the very second after it was released practically.

Since I live in New Zealand it will take longer than a month to get into the libraries like it would for those of you living in the USA.

Not sure Kat, but if you have a e-reader can likely get it sooner.

Oh crap it already is out in NZ apparently the release date is talking about being released in stores in all of the major 1st world english speaking countries! My dad is buying it for me right now well I'm in uni yes!

I told him not to get his I's mixed up. Not Illusion, not Inferno, Not this not that it has to be INSTINCT!

and he just laughed and said I promise I won't mix it up.

And I have a sneaky suspicion that Jared did not betray the Sephirii because that's his nature. I believe in some way he was betrayed, or he was someones pawn without realizing it.

Actually Kat the theories have been posted throughout many of the threads on here really. And yea with new release threads all the spoilers and what not are free to fly usually. As nobody really checks back in til they finish reading or as they go along anyway, lol. So it's all good.

Jared is his Grandfather and Cherise's father.

Apollymi split with Noir and Azura after they struck the bargain about her son without her permission.

Menyara is Cam and she now knows Nicks powers are unlocked and we know why she stuck so close to them... (Nick took that rather well considering....)

Stone FINALLY got zapped by Nick.

Noir knows what he looks like and his name.

Nick has assembled a mighty group of sidekicks.

Zavid died. :(

Liv is a backstabbing bitch.

Nick is finally learning control..;)

Thanks. I will read spoilers later. I was just wondering with knowing that, how is Nick and Ash's relationship going to evolve with the timeline being rewritten.

OMG the reveals are insane.... i sense a reread...

Finished it last night. Still processing. But I can't for the life of me remember who Caleb's father is, even though I know I've met him because I read The Guardian about three months ago.

My biggest question: Does Jared have any idea what Menyara/Cam did? Is this who he's staying to protect?

Verlyn is Caleb and Xev's father. One of the three Primal God's of Light. For some reason he is on Noir's side now as seen in The Guardian.

I think he is completely in the dark about what they did and has no idea about Nick being his grandson.

I was stunned about what Menyara did... and a little confused about how well Nick seemed to take it..

Okay. I was thinking it was Verlyn, but wanted confirmation. Him being on the side of dark also lends credence to the theory he's also Jaden.

I wasn't completely stunned by what Menyara did, but I was a little surprised. I think Nick hasn't finished processing it yet. There was a lot of other stuff going on and saving Cherise was his top priority.

She may not have planned it to happen as it did but i mean Cherise was raped, kicked out of her house and is terrified of men. I thought the least he would do was kick Menyara out the house.

There is definitely something going on with Jaden and Verlyn.

I really felt for Xev this book. Can't believe there's another year wait for the next CON book :(

Okay, so we are all in agreement that our minds have been detonated, yes? XD

Menyara's actions in regards to Cherise really shocked me. Then again, I should have expected it to a certain extent, since we were discussing in one of the previous CON threads the possibility that Cherise had been specifically selected for the task of bearing the new Malachai. Dhfan was EXTREMELY close in her theory about Cherise being a nymph of some sort, so once again, major kudos to her for figuring out that part. And I am glad to say that I thought it was a good theory at the time. =D

But I wasn't remotely surprised when Menyara was officially revealed to be Cam. There was enough information in other books to draw that conclusion before this book.

I am now even more convinced that Jaden IS Verlyn. (Spoiler tag here for those who haven't read the Guardian: (view spoiler)[Either they are two parts of a whole--a strong possibility given that Verlyn can split himself into multiple beings--or else it's a sort of Jekyll/Hyde situation. Also, Jaden states that he is staying in Azmodea on behalf of someone that is more important to him than he is, and Carl has stated that Caleb was mentioned in the Guardian. Coincidence? I think not. ;) (hide spoiler)]

Adding to that theory is the fact that Caleb stated that he was the son of a broker. Only one broker has been mentioned at all in the books. It's really adding up.

However, I may be wrong in thinking that Rezar was the "uncle" who taught Caleb about masking his powers and fighting. Kinda scary to think that it might have been Noir he was talking about, there. Maybe Caleb was talking about a demon uncle.

The primal I'm really feeling for at the moment, is Apollymi/Braith. Considering what she's had to go through with each of her sons ... yeah. Bad deal all around.

Oh ... and just to keep this straight, I'm gonna post the offspring of the Primals as have been revealed in the CON books. Since it appears that the Primals were getting busy back in the day. XD

Verlyn: Caleb, Xev
Noir: Dagon
Azura: Xev
Braith: Monakribos (1st Malachai), Acheron
Rezar: Bathymaas (Kody's mom; Kody states that Rezar is her grandfather in the previous book ;D)

Eventually, I'll get around to posting this in the Fact Sheet thread. (But I plan to wait at least a month to do so.) =)

After what Noir and Azura did to Monakribos, every action Apollymi has ever taken in protecting Ash makes perfect sense. I don't know how she managed to act with such restraint and keep from checking on Ash before his 21st birthday. Her destruction of the Atlantean pantheon makes more sense now too. I think she also viewed them as surrogates for Noir and Azura.

I knew Menyara was Cam by the end of the past section of Styxx. I suspected it in The Guardian, and Styxx confirmed it for me. That was not a surprise at all.

I've also thought since Jaden first said he stays to protect someone that he's talking about his child. One thing Sherri does most beautifully is write parents who love their children and will sacrifice for them.

What do y'all think is most likely: Voting poll

1) Jared and Cherise will never find out about each other

2) Jared will know but Cherise doesn't and Jared just says he's one of Nick's friends.

3) Both Jared and Cherise find out about their relationship to one another.

4) Jared knows but would prefer to protect from the shadows.

5) Or other: please explain

This is meaning after Jared is freed from Zephyra by Jericho.

I agree with Nick's thoughts on something Ambrose possibly didn't see as an issue. And that was Cherise finding out the paranormal world exists. Remember what Menyara said, that the one time she tried to hint at things to Cherise, it didn't go well.

The night Cherise died, she found out the world as she knew it was a lie. That could have been part of why she died.

I do believe Ash's careless spoken thought at the end of Dream-Hunter is a huge part of why Cherise died, but since it wasn't explicitly stated I also hold out hope if Nick can change enough things he might be able to stop it from happening.

I think Cherise will remain dead. It's just a feeling i have. Maybe Apollymi will end up adopting him like she did Styxx and Verlyn will remain on the Dark side to keep the balance?
Although from what i saw from One Silent Night she didn't show any sort of distress when she spoke of the Malachai.

I think Nick and Jared will form some sort of brother/father bond. Could you refresh my memory about what Ash thought at the end of Dream Hunter?

I'd be interested to find out if Nicks brother willingly participated in the ritual or if he was forced into it..

Here it is.

It was Ash’s turn to scoff at that. “Not bloody likely. I’d be the death of her before Nick would. That kid lives, breathes, and dies for that woman.” He smiled at Nick. “Give Cherise my best.”

Then it ends with this: Ash obliged, but even as he did so he couldn’t shake the feeling that something had transpired this night that he should have picked up on. As a god of fate, he knew that somehow he’d just set something into motion and, knowing his luck, it was most likely something he shouldn’t have.
