If you like cozy read a lot of them are quick reads. Peggy Webb is a funny author she writes mysteries in the the main character has a Bassett hound named Elvis who helps her solve crimes.
Novels that are longer but fast paste Sandra Brown - Mirror Image is great. Iris Johansen - The Face of Deception, The Ugly Duckling, Brenda Novak- Taking The Heat, Her Worse Nightmare.Shari Lapena, B.A. Paris,
Loved T.J. Newman's book Falling his new one is Drowning (I have not read that one yet but I want to.

binita wrote: "turn of the screw by henry james"Server thought about Henry James as a short reads, but Turn of the Screw sounds like a good Idea, I will add that to my Mt. TBR
Book Dragon wrote: "Murderbot Diaries by: Martha Wells (first one is All Systems Red)"Perfect, Book Dragon!
An Elderly Lady is Up to No Good by Helene Tursten, Address Unknown by Kathrine Kressmann Taylor, and I'll third the Murderbot Diaries.
A Sense of Reality by Graham Greene. Four short stories, exquisitely written, utterly imaginative and extremely philosophical.
- seven brief lessons on physics (Carlo Rovelli) > fast, easy, instructive, and accessible to everyone. Truly an exciting read.
Just finished Bride by Ali Hazelwood and I blew threw it... Not her usual writing but it was different and fun!

The Penric and Desdemona series, 11 novellas about a priest of the bastard god and the (highly opinionated and very wise) female chaos demon who inhabits his body and often speaks through him--by Lois McMaster Bujold, author of some 40+ books, including the 18 in the sci-fi fantasy series, The Vorkosigan Saga. Can't say enough about Penric and Desdemona, but count them among those books that are both engaging and touchingly endearing, reflecting decency in action.
Authors with quick reads:Sofia Ryan
Sofia Kelly
Janet Evanovich
Peggy Webb
Carly Phillips
Susan Andersen
Brenda Novak - Taking the Heat
Any pseudo-James-Bond stuff from the SAS series by Gérard de Villiers (warning, it has even more iffy racist/sexist thing than Fleming, not surprising having in mind Villiers was a Le Pen supporter).
Some of my favorite fantasy & sci-fi short reads:Monk and Robot duology from Becky Chambers,
Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells, Wayward Children Series by Seanan McGuire.
Also T. Kingfisher has some short books as well, my favorites are Nettle & Bone and A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking.
Does anyone have favorite short story collection recommendations? I haven't had luck finding a good collection yet..
