I was wondering why people hate Colleen Hoover's books so much. I'm not a big fan of her writing style or her storylines but the hate sounds too personal to me I understand why people would hate her because she silenced the girl who was SA'd by her son and I do understand why other books of her would be hated where she's romanticised SA. I've only read IEWS and didn't like it so much but I did notice that Lily was shown to want to escape the abuse, which she did at the end. I don't think the abuse was romanticised if she hated it....that's just my take on it but i would like to hear what others think I've been thinking about this topic for a while now but never got the chance to really discuss it with someone
some of her books on the app are marked as YA, but as a reader, I feel like her writing is explicit, and I also feel like when reading her books, it feels like you are reading a wattpad book, I read November 9 and I had high hopes for it but it didn't meet my expectations and I didn't end up liking and I wished I have DNFed it, and many of her books focus on deeper topics, in her YA (Young Adult), NA (New Adult) and her Adult books too, I don't hate her I just feel like her books and her writing isn't good enough.
It’s not that I hate all of her book, however A LOTTT of her books do unfortunately romanticise a lot of issues, such as SA. Though not all do, some of the things in her books I’m honestly surprised get past editing. And I agree with Ganna’s message above, the writing style at time doesn’t feel like reading a real book, and more like a younger persons fan fiction
