Let's discuss!! Spoilers are welcome here :)

Diana (DsJourney) Ok so I didn't love it I liked it but didn't love it. Maven was a little predictable although the queen was a little shock. Another thing I was confused about was when they are in the arena and her powers are gone? I thought Julian had told her that she can make the Lightning and not just use it while it was already there? The beginning was good the middle was slow for me and the ending was just ok I think. Did anyone else feel like this?

I also thought the thing with Maven was too easy to see coming and I wasn't that shocked with the queen... I think her power was gone because Amber was specifically blocking her it had nothing to do with there being no lightning for her to use. She can still produce it. But not when she is under the influence of silence or silence rocks for that matter.I overall liked it a lot I wasn't bored or anything but I think it lacked originality.

Lena I didn't see the plot twist coming. The only thing I thought was predictable was that Shade's still alive. Over all, I think it was a great book.

Ronan So I really enjoyed this book. I didn't love it as much as I though I would but I really liked it. I ended up giving it a 4/5 stars.

The plot twist was kinda a surprise, but I could start to see it coming before it did. Maven was just being to perfect, and things were happening to well. They were just getting away with to much even under the Queen's nose, so I did start to thin something was happening but it did. I also kinda know that Shade was probably still alive because he had powers like Mare.

I feel like things have start and stop points. Like we would be lots of action then it would slow down to almost nothing then pick back up suddenly. I would have like more character building and development, but I still think there was alot that happen in the story. I can't wait till the second book though when we will learn more about the world and what is going to happen in the war.

I also wish we would have learned more about the history of the world. We learned a lot about the war and how it started but not enough about how the silver bloods came to the world. I also didn't really see a love triangle. I felt like she cared for Maven but never really loved him. I really only could tell she loved or like Cal.

Overall I don't think the book is being over-hyped. It is a great book and I think the series is going to be amazing.

Ah ok lol I spent that whole time upset that she didn't remember she could use her power. That makes better sense though thank you :)

Hana (triforceprincess) | 4 comments This book was definitely worth the hype. It was gripping and fun to read through. I really liked the characters and the plot. I enjoyed how the love triangle wasn't the main focus of the novel. My main problem was that I didn't like the amount of similarities to other dystopian novels. It's basically what THG, Divergent, The Selection, and Shadow & Bone would be if they were combined. The world building could be better as well.

I agree about the love triangle! It just didn't seem like Mare was really in love with Maven.

Beth Skewis (bethbooks3) | 2 comments I gave this book a 4/5 stars, I really enjoyed it but I thought I'd like it more. The plot twist totally took me by surprise, I saw that Shade was alive though

Rachel (_rachelreads) I enjoyed this book overall! As the story progressed, I found myself more intrigued with it. And the plot twist...whoaaaa! Did NOT see that coming. But I did theorize that Shade was still alive, as many of you have as well. However, the whole first half pretty much reminded me of The Hunger Games and I kept comparing this one to that. But I stopped doing that when I was about halfway through. The world wasn't completely original, but I thought the superpowers that the Silvers had weren't typical powers like flying or invisibility or super strength. I was so fascinated with these powers. As for the love part of it, I think she has feelings for Kilorn, but also Cal. I liked that the romance wasn't a HUGE part of the book (I'm not into romance) but I do want to see which guy she truly falls for. Overall, I'm excited to know what will happen next.

Aims (thedevilswefind) This book started off great, and until the half-mark, it was a solid four stars. And then it just went downhill. The main character was stupid and manipulative and just a horrible person overall. The writing was clunky, and Victoria Aveyard has the horrible tendency to point out the obvious. And it was SO predictable, dear God. From the moment Maven was introduced, I knew he was working with his mother.

And also, the fight at the end was super anticlimactic. I think when Mare kills the power-stopping dude, Victoria was aiming at a "whoa, that was so cool!" Instead, ever since the fight started and Mare started whining about not being able to use her powers, all I was thinking was, "Can't they just kill that dude? It wouldn't be that hard." And on top of that, when the lightning started flashing and Mare was all like "nooooooooo we're so dead," I was like "bitch, you control lightning wtf?"

Much annoy. Very disappoint. >.>
