It sounds like a good book, I will try to get it from the library, it will make reading the discussions interesting.

I feel guilty I wrote so little about this one, especially as someone named Angela gave my remarks a 'like' - an experiece which always makes my day. I plead deminished responsibility in that I'm about 5 reviews behind on my read list. So let me just add that I loved the Black Country setting, the dialect (I'd like to listen to an authentic audio version), & the really creepy abandoned building that used to be the girls' facility. The accounts of excavating the skeletons were gripping as well.
Finished this and it had a nice twist at the end, but I'm still not sure how I felt about the book. I gave it 3 stars because the protagonist seemed a little too damaged. It also seemed odd to me that one of the police squad had worse grammar than the other 3, but I didn't feel like it was a dialect. At least, it didn't seem to match the other characters who talked in dialect. I put her next book on my wishlist and I'll see how I feel when it comes out.
I have this downloaded but haven't got to it yet...need a month off work to catch up with my reading 8:D
Which character do you mean? One reason I love British mysteries is to enjoy the dialects & idioms.
Finally remembered the name. Stacy -- for some reason, her speech didn't seem dialectical like some of the others. I did enjoy the Black Country dialect that some of the other characters used, just, for some reason, her speech grated on me.
We're told on p. 27 that Stacey has 'a strong Black Country accent' & I wonder if her pronunciiation spelled 'yer' in the book might sound like 'yeah' to my American Midwest ear.
Kindles are so great when yer wanner find stoof.

I am 3/4th of the way through "Silent Scream" and can't put it down. At first I was put off by Kim, the lead detective, butshe's relentless, I'll give her that. So far, my favorite part of the book is when Bryant rescues the dog and her puppies.
This was a great pick for April!

I think 'yer' is more likely to be your, but a woman I work with says yer for year but she's of South African origin!
Here's a couple of YouTube clips that might help but could well leave you even more perplexed :)
