bailey The Water That Falls on You from NowhereJohn ChuChu's use of the water was incredibly interesting and in the short simply added a sense of clarity and reassurance for the characters- yet reminded us that even the most honest things are still fuzzy. For instance, the water could pick up on sarcasm. The truth isn't clear cut- even though you said something actually false, it picked up on that tone, the feeling behind it. It was almost like a God character in this way. It guided the characters- told Matt that he was in love with Gus, even though he wasn't aware of it himself. In the same way, you could cheat and phrase the truth in a way that didn't admit it entirely. It was often transparent to others if you were doing this purposefully, but it wouldn't result in the normal consequences. Instead of feeling your lie in a brutal freezing rain, the person you lied to lost respect for your inability to speak the truth.

It was beneficiary that the water wasn't entirely structured, but it was still predictable. It added an element to the story that reminded me of the newest liberal movement. First, because he alluded to the idea of the water having not always been there and only starting a few years ago- which was a very interesting piece to add. Secondly, our generation's current adolescents are obsessed with the idea of being the real you, not the one that society seems to want you to be. The water was like the anthem to that philosophy- you are drowned in pain if you lie to yourself, but you feel wonderful and warm when you tell the truth and embrace the "true you".
