Frank | 3 comments The "Topic" field kind of demanded that I attach a link to my book, written under a pen name. I'm sorry if that's wrong or inappropriate? I tried to find a way around it, to no avail. Anyway, my question is about promotion, but pretty specific - I'm not trying to promote my book. Here, at least, lol. Have any of you folks made a business page in Facebook, and then "boosted" said post? If so, what sort of results did you see? Or not see, lol. Thanks, everyone.

This is a good question, Frank. You would probably get a lot of responses if you go to where we usually hang out here, "BOOK PROMOTIONS: The Ones That Actually Work" thread.

Anyway, it's been a long time since I had a FB account. Emphasis on "had" because it just didn't do anything for me as far as promoting. I think I did something like "boost", but no results, nada.

So come on, we're waiting...

Frank | 3 comments That's a pretty great answer right there, Groovy. A pretty groovy answer, lol. Thanks, Frank

Theresa (theresa99) | 457 comments I have done boosted posts and ads through FB. I have had a few sales through an ad when I had a book on sale and occasionally from boosted posts the same way. However, I have found that boosted posts tend to give some exposure that may or may not lead to sales.

If you choose to go that route, I would say to create your own designs if possible. I did one FB advertising campaign through Written Word Media (Bargainbooksy, etc.) and all the others I have designed myself and surprisingly I found I got better exposure with what I created for a lot less money.

Interesting and very helpful! Thank you.

You are welcome.

Justin (justinbienvenue) | 256 comments I'm wondering, are Facebook ads still worth it given the fact that we all get flooded with pages and ads of things we don't wanna see? It makes me think that while you can target a specific audience it may still get lost in the shuffle of all the pointless crap Facebook shows on pages now.

Dale Lehman (dalelehman) | 380 comments I've never had any luck with them, but then I've not been very good at using advertising platforms like that in general. My understanding is that it take a lot of experimentation to figure them out, but if you have the time, patience, and money for it, it can be made to work..

Justin (justinbienvenue) | 256 comments I have a list of slides from a webinar I recently watched and it's 100 book marketing ideas and 10 of them are about Facebook Ads. I'm not against doing them, it's just they're complicated and you really have to know what you're doing.

Interesting thread here. I haven't done anything on FB for a couple years other than post general stuff about my writing or lack thereof. I am thinking that in July I will try FB ads again to see how they do now. In the meantime I'm going to go over what I did last time that didn't work too well and see what I can learn about doing a better job of it this time. Any suggestions? I will be doing this on my own.

Francine (francineallen) | 3 comments Use Canva to create an ad, not too much text, a couple of great very short excerpts from blurbs, cover of book, and link to your site or to wherever you want people to buy the book. Older women buy more books than any other demographic and there are a lot of older women on FB.
