🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧

This is my first Schwab which I found to be included in audible membership (so it's free!) so I decided to try. This also happens to be her debut. I must say that the cover and the story itself didn't sound like her more recent books! It is however, a fantasy novel as her other novels but it feels to be rather 'tame'. Maybe it is also due to the year it was published (being 2011) so it's probably not as dark as the more recent published fantasy novels (in general).

While I found The Near Witch easy to listen to and I didn't mind the story or the characters; I found the whole novel to just be an average sort of fantasy novel as in I didn't find any surprising twists nor did anyone important died. It could have been more creepy but it wasn't. I guess this would make the novel to be a sort of comfortable read. There was 1 particular quote I liked which nudged up by 1/2 star:

"Magda looks at me as if I've gone mad. Or I've grown up. It's kind of the same thing."
