Monthly discussion thread! Very short book. Would love to hear your thoughts and comments on this. Have any of you read any of the other "Zen in the..." books?

Joshua Moravec (jmoravec) | 37 comments Finished this a few weeks ago! It was a nice short little read and pretty fun introduction I guess to Zen. I don't really have much to say about it, though. I don't think there's really any "life lesson" here beyond maybe enjoying the process rather than the end result without learning more about Zen.

After I started reading this one I realized I had read it many moons ago in my 20s. What a difference having a life in the meantime can do. I recall while reading Zen in my 20s telling myself how important and useful it is and that I should strive for whatever it was telling us to do. This time around I found the authors struggle with mastering Japanese archery similar to several other seemingly unrelated activities or circumstances in my life. Glad I gave it another chance.

I should be receiving Germinal any day now. Am looking forward to it.
