I nominate George Washington (for setting the many precedents for the office of the president for the US — he was inagurated on April 30, 1789, for his first term; and for courageously leading the Continental Army during the American War for Independence)
I nominate Irena Sendler. She saved the lives of many babies and children during WW2. She was a maintenance worker at a ghetto and she would smuggle babies out in her work bag and many other ways. She had dogs that she trained to bark whenever her vehicle got stopped, that way it would cover the sound of the babies crying. I believe she saved around 2,500 children. She than wrote the children’s original names and the names of their parents down on papers and buried them in jars, she reunited a lot of children with their parents after the war ended.

The first I heard about her was a chance article I saw on Pinterest. Then I heard the odyssey episodes about her (and I trust them immensely). Now I’ve been trying to find some good books about her.
