Well, thanks for the review and the spoiler - but I did not even need the spoiler - I read several lines and gave up. Keep on giving honest reviews, despite what your GR friends like or dislike. I trust your reviews. Thank you. I do not intend to touch this book. peace, janz
I can absolutely see why you didn’t like it, Karin. I read this a while ago at a time when I was in the right mood for it - the novelty and humour were enough to get 3 stars from me. And I had actually forgotten that it had more explicit bits (I probably skipped over them as usual, lol). But not everyone’s cup of tea for sure.
I'm sorry you read it when it's not something you would normally read. I do like the series, I've read through book 4. The things mentioned in your spoiler are a major part of the series so definitely don't continue it. I'm thinking fantasy romance isn't really for you but I hope you can find a book with the tag that you like.

I have a scifi I like that I'll reread this month that fits. I found this on a list of funny fantasy books (can't recall the name now) but as I wrote, I didn't go deep enough into the tags to see that it wasn't for me. I did see that the third and fourth books weren't.
Karin, you might consider reading Ilona Andrews Innkeeper Chronicles series, starts with Clean Sweep. It's funny, has some quirky characters and is not as dark as this series. I think many of them are available on Kindle Unlimited.

I just read something that counts and fits that I liked--a reread that's a good 3 stars for me--it's both scifi and fantasy by my definition of fantasy (not that unusual.)
I actually think Linda is right, Karin. You might like this book (possibly not the later ones in the series so much as they are somewhat darker). Yes there are vampires but they are just one variety of magical person and it is all very light hearted.

Karin - I'm reading Clean Sweep right now. Very clean so far - I only have 50 pages left and I don't see any smut entering the picture, or even a kiss. What happens in later books I can't say. The vampires are side characters. Main characters are a witch and a werewolf (who is pretty entertaining - there's a conversation with his parents that had me laughing out loud). Check out the buddy read I opened.
It's also quite short. Oh and it has the hunkiest Shih Tzu. Her name is Beast and she has a fantastic scene in the middle of the book.

I chose this for a reading game because it was supposed to be funny (and it is) plus it was shorter than most of the books that matched what I was looking for. This book isn't erotica, but 19 people have shelved it vaginal fantasy which didn't show up until the their page because this book is popular. The stuff that was darker than I realized or things I don't like are in the spoiler-don't read it if you want to try this book and don't want mid-late story spoilers. (view spoiler)[First off, I was surprised to find out that she's the the grim reaper although she isn't necessarily there when people die. That part didn't start off too horrible for me because I have read books featuring one in Terry Pratchett, although I eventually tired of Pratchett's humour, but when when Jones brought in God, Satan and the devil--it turns out this lover in her dreams is the son of the Devil but apparently isn't evil himself--that was not for me but that was almost at the end of the book so I went ahead andn finished it. Plus it is one thing to dream of a supernatural lover, but I wasn't keen on the wakeful part of it especially when it started to get graphic--it's rather creepy. There are other things, but this is enough. (hide spoiler)]
