Well-Educated Mind Poetry Reading List discussion

In this short poem, the focus is on a working class woman (we know this because she is bareheaded and wearing an apron, standing on the street). For some reason she is also big and young.

She obviously has a problem with her shoe, as she has taken it off and is looking for what has been irritating her foot...a nail inside her shoe.

So, there you go.

I cannot believe how many critics have written long commentaries on this poem. It's amazing!
