@Shira agree 100% with that! shorter chapters are so much more comfortablean ick for me is too many POV's - it can get dizzy when there's too many plot points happening at once. would rather have different plots over different books rather than chapters.
my biggest ick in books is miscommunication. like, some couples break up when they could just talk. that annoys me

Yesss like just talk with each other!!!
Yesss like just talk with each other!!!
When the author throws in modern elements like the mention of tic tok or Snapchat 🤮 idk I hate it sm
GIRL ME TOO! Like when they add slang from modern days it sounds so stupid 😭😭Also when the main character literally believes they're the main character 💀
My biggest ick in a book is when the MC is stupid. I don't mean 'oh, she's a bit naive, but that's the start of her character arc'. No, stupid like their two brain cells are fighting for third place. Especially if they're supposed to be a young adult but act like a toddler ugh

Real!!! I HATE it
Real!!! I HATE it
1. Long chapters(more than 14 pages) 2. When the smut is in the very first 3 chapters
3. Second chances after 10 years(why?)
4. Whiney females
When the FMC puts words in the MMC mouth like if he said "i like you" and she's like "no you don't, you're delusional. nobody likes me" AHHHHHH, can't she just shut up! (that's my little rant) I absolutely hate it.
I dont like when its way too slow and basically nothing happens for the first half of a book and then it suddenly speeds up in the last quarter and seems rushed
When the main male character does something terrible and the main female character forgives him in a second!!! Of course, this is also the other way around
I also hate when real people are on the covers like no stop or when its zoomed in on a part of a persons body I hate books with covers like those and usually tried to avoid looking at the covers if I'm reading one like that.
@henny Good to know I’m not alone. I’m sorry for u but I’m here with u 😔Little siblings can be annoying 😤
One more than I REALLY need to stop commenting on this topic (💀💀): When people say “Omg u should totally read this book it’s so good” and then completely ruin it by telling u the whole plot
When a character makes an excuse for doing something bad, everyone instantly forgives them for what they did.

Physical book: Half Covers TVT
In the story icks: Extremely over or under powered characters. A little OP is ok, but the I control the universe vibe is too much.
TBH I don't really know how to identify the icks until I read it and go ewww
Also, idk if this fits but I can NOT read on my phone. It makes me feel bad abt myself when I see I’ve been on Kindle for 4 hours…
it's not really an ick, but when readers say that if there is no smut in the book's, that means the book is not good. like what??!
I read both with smit and without, and it is fun sometimes, but the fact that there is no smut doesn't say anything about the book!

annoying/stupid main characters, creepy toxic characters, boring plot, terrible friends, and when it's long but not much action.
A lot of unnecessary narrative really gets on my nerves. I appreciate you need some but not full chapters worth!
When the guy’s clearly abusive, but the girl’s still hopelessly “in love” (even though they literally just met, lol)… and somehow that’s supposed to be “enemies to lovers."

I hate long chapters that just feel like I read half a book in just one chapter!!
