This is the second book that Merton PSC read as part of our book club. We choose something a bit easier to read after Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine which is so full of info, we could have spoken about it for days.

I Shall Not Hate is a story about a refugee child from Gaza, who grew up to be a doctor in Israeli hospital. In 2009, Israeli forced murdered his 3 daughters. It is an unbelievable story of human strength.

We met to talk about it in March 2024. It was a rainy day, during Ramadhan, holy month for Muslims around the world. Some members of our group came early to the meeting to have a chance to break their fast. It all felt appropriate.

Izzeldin is too smart to have failed to notice he was the target. That much is so obvious from the story, we ended up discussing why would he pretend like he didn't know? Or maybe he really didn't know.

One thing is clear, he's a man of great integrity and strength. It is a true story well worth reading.
