For me, powerless was almost the most enjoyable book that I have ever read so I definitely recommend it. It was a safe escape from the reality, and while I was reading it, every single page was like a knife to my heart, and in the beginning of every chapter I started it while crying and then did it while crying.
I can await the next book of this series.
Plus this two sided pov was giving me all of the goods because through the whole book. I always waited for Kai's pov 🤌
I am a little over 100 pages in and while I think the pace might be a little slow, I am enjoying reading how Ava writes her descriptors. How did everyone else think about how she wrote the setting? Did you enjoy it or no?
i LOVED a study in drowning !! the writing is gorgeous- super evocative and vivid. i could imagine the world so clearly. and i loved the blending of fantasy and reality, and all the metaphors about womanhood and drowning and prejudice and escape and adkfjlsafkjls it's soo goodddd. also effypreston are adorable. i love preston sm. if i could add/change something i would delve deeper into effy's anti-argantian prejudice; i feel like that never got fully resolved, it was more of a 'haha so she doesn't like preston' kind of thing that came off a little weir dto me.
