Kristin Lavransdatter is a trilogy of historical novels set in fourteenth-century Norway. Thanks to the “impressive description of the Nordic way of life during the Middle Ages”, this trilogy earned Sigrid Undset the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1928.

Kristin, bewitching heroine in a rural setting, defies her parents and society as a whole, letting a man choose her, instead of obeying to her father. The narration of her life is a masterful memento of what could be heaven, what is earth, and what could be hell.
