It was kind of the whole point of the book, so yeah, it was inevitable. As inevitable as it was it was really sad, and I really enjoyed the twisted route to what really happened to him.Sam was out of line, but hey, it's Sam she lives to be out of line. She disobeyed a direct order.
I expected it in this story, but it is a sad commentary on life today. I expected Sam to go out in the field at the first opportunity. She thinks she can do whatever she wants. In real life, disciplinary actions would be required.
Yes, I wasn't surprised as its the premise of the book.Sam's insubordination is one of the most irritating aspects of this series. It annoys me that she gets away with this behavior with barely a slap on the wrist.
