May buddy read is The Second Persephone Book of Short Stories.

I'll list the stories later so people can track them down.

Dianne | 43 comments Thanks! Are we discussing them in the order of the book?

Tania | 573 comments Mod
I thought I would put up separate threads for the stories so that people can discuss them as they want. I can only put 3 up at a time however, so if there is a story anyone wants to talk about before I get the thread up, please feel free to add your own thread.

Dianne | 43 comments Super thanks!

Antoinette | 104 comments I don’t own a copy but found a store near me that has a copy. I’ll join in if I find it:) Thanks, Tania.

That's great. I'm trying to find links to the stories or other places where they can be read, so if you can't find it, hopefully you can still join for some of them.

Mela (melabooks) | 70 comments I couldn't find a copy of the collection too, but I have found on the Internet a few of them.

"In dull brown" by Evelyn Sharp (1896) https://vsfp.byu.edu/index.php/title/...
"The bedquilt" by Dorothy Canfield Fisher (1906) https://books.google.pl/books/about/T...
"Her first ball" by Katherine Mansfield (1921) https://digital.library.upenn.edu/wom...
"The other wife" by Colette (1924) https://www.101bananas.com/library2/o...
"After tea" by Dorothy Whipple (1941) https://www.cottontown.org/Culture%20...
"Monsieur Rose" by Irène Nèmirovsky (1941) https://esl-bits.eu/ESL.English.Liste...

A few were read by Francesca Beauman on her YouTube channel:

"Thunder shower" by Malachi Whitaker (1933) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUHoU...
"Miss Anstruther's letters" by Rose Macaulay (1942) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvrzU...
"Year of decision" by Mollie Panter-Downes (1944) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kBXU...
"The proof" by Mary Rickwood (1954) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuWbb...
"Gilbert" by Rosamunde Pilcher (1984) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPxK5...
"Sunday morning" by Dorothy Whipple (1961) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJQ9u...

I have also found out that two other stories are part of two collections:

"The prisoner" by Elizabeth Berridge (1948) Family matters: Sixteen stories available on https://archive.org/details/familymat...
"For good" by Alice Adams (1977) The Stories of Alice Adams
"Accidents" by Carol Shields (1984) The Collected Stories of Carol Shields

Susan | 236 comments Thanks, Mela, for all your research! I missed your earlier message and am amazed you’ve found so many of the stories. Thank you!

Antoinette | 104 comments I am planning on reading them in order as per the book. But I guess I don’t have to do that based on what I am noting in what’s being read.

Tania | 573 comments Mod
I'm reading in order, but not everyone commenting has the book, so the stories are being commenting on are out of order, which is why I set up separate threads. You can read them whichever way you would like. Glad you got hold of a copy. 😊

Antoinette | 104 comments It was my lucky day, Tania, to find a copy in a local bookstore:)

I think there are more of Francesca's readings on her Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/francescabe...) and on Instagram she still posts, on the YT channel there has been nothing new for three years.

Susan | 236 comments Thanks, Mela. I’ll check her out on Instagram.

Mela (melabooks) | 70 comments I have read all the stories I could find (links are a few messages above). Ratings and short reviews of each of them in my review. Many of them were brilliant in my opinion, the other were not as great.

If I had to choose three I loved the most it would be:

"Her first ball" by Katherine Mansfield
"The other wife" by Colette
"The green heart" by Jane McClure
