Challenge Rules:
Standard Challenge Rules apply, unless otherwise stated for the task.

Rose (/ˈroʊzə/) (/roʊˈzeɪsiːˌiː/)

Levels
Petite: 4 tasks
Standard: 8 tasks
Premium: 16 tasks
Extraordinary: 32 tasks

Tasks

1 - Read a book with "ROSE" in the text.
2 - Read a book published in June (any year).
3 - Read a book with a red cover (>50%).
4 - Read a book with a rose on the cover.

ROSES ARE POSSIBLY ONE OF THE OLDEST FLOWERS
There are rose fossils that date back 35 million years. The oldest living rose is 1,000 years old, and it lives on the wall of the Cathedral of Hildesheim in Germany!
5 - Read a book with the word "FOSSIL" in the text.
6 - Read a book set in Germany.
7 - Read a book with 35 in the page count (example: 235 or 351)

THE NATIONAL FLOWER FOR ENGLAND IS A ROSE
The Tudor Rose refers to England’s emblem of peace at the end of the War of the Roses, the civil war between the royal house of Lancashire, which wore a red rose, and the royal house of York, which wore a white rose.
8 - Read a book set in England.
9 - Read a book with the letters P.E.A.C.E. in the title (any order).

EACH ROSE COLOUR HAS A DIFFERENT MEANING
Red roses – love and passion

White roses - innocence and spirituality
11 - Read a book with an "innocent" character (your interpretation).

Yellow roses – warmth, friendship, and joy

21 - Read a book with the authors initials found in "WONDER".

22 - Read a book featuring a life-changing event.
23 - Read a book with a breakup.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS BLACK ROSE OR BLUE ROSE (yes, yes - I included them above!)
The truth is that the only way to get some of these impossible colors into our roses is by doing a bit of genetic modification in the lab. This is something that many people disapprove of, conveniently forgetting that the History of all plant-breeding is basically a history of genetic improvement. In 2004, researchers used genetic modification to create roses that contain the blue pigment delphinidin, but such roses still are better described as mauves and lilacs not blue.
24 - Read a book with a bit of "modification" (your interpretation!).
25 - Read a book with a blue or black cover (>50%).

GEORGE WASHINGTON AND ABRAHAM LINCOLN, ARE CONNECTED TO ROSES, BOTH DIRECTLY AND INDIRECTLY.
George Washington was the first rose breeder in the United States, and he even named a variety after his mother, Mary Washington.
In 1865, the Moreau-Robert Nursery of Angers, France, introduced a new rose in honor of the fallen American president. They called it ”Souvenir du President Lincoln”, surprisingly it is still grown and available. And then, there is the widely-available rose hybridized by Swim and Weeks known as ‘‘Mister Lincoln”.
26 - Read a book featuring "politics".
27 - Read a book with a minor or major character named "George" or "Abraham" (Abe is acceptable).

THE MOST EXPENSIVE ROSE SOLD FOR MILLIONS OF DOLLARS
Rose breeder David Austin spent $5 million to create the apricot-hued hybrid over the course of 15 years. Rose Juliet debuted in 2006 at the Chelsea Flower Show and took the floral world by storm not only for its blushing beauty but because it was the most expensive rose ever developed. The Juliet rose sold for $15.8 million in 2006, which also made it the world’s most expensive rose cultivar.
28 - Read a book featuring a VERY rich character.

Spell out ROSE using the first letter of the title or the author's first or last name.

✅24 - Read a book with a bit of "modification" (your interpretation!)-The Elite-9/7/24
✅25 - Read a book with a blue or black cover (>50%)-Surrender to Me-8/12/24

✅27 - Read a book with a minor or major character named "George" or "Abraham" (Abe is acceptable)- Burgess Abraham (MC)-The Au Pair Affair-1/5/25
