Does anyone have suggestions for a novel or series where the main protagonist is a demon or other paranormal creature but fights against their own kind.

Son of Darkness

Monster Hunter International has a major character that fits that description. In Monster Hunter Alpha, he's the main character.

Not sure but I think Joanna Penn's series has supernaturals battling supernaturals... Arkane?

My series, Stone Soldiers is supernaturals vs supernaturals. To a lesser degree so is Seal Team 13 by Evan Currie and Seal Team 666 by Weston Ochse.

American Craftsmen is about military sorcerors as is Myke Cole's Shadow Ops series.

Cedric the Demonic Knight is that way.

Cat Adams Siren series is technically that way with a female protagonist.

Vampire Hunter D has a novel series I believe that fits.

Everything else I can think of are Mangas and anime, Inu-yasha, Blood, Trinity and so on.

I am reading the books of Christina Henry. In them Madeline Black is a very distant granddaughter of Lucifer and her father is the demon Azazel. She vows to hunt her father and his horde. That's just part of the storyline though. Not sure it's what you are looking for.

The Anita Blake series, Guilty Pleasures, is a good one (well, after a while, it becomes more porn than story, IMO. But I loved the first like 6 or 7).

Not to be a plug, but my One Hell of a Romance series is about a vampire who is the king of hell, and his daughter, who is half god, is part of what is known as The Council. It was created to bring all demons under one rule, in order to remain hidden from humans. Right now, only the prequel, Through Life and Death: One Hell of a Romance Prequel, and a companion book, Through Love & Hate are out. The first main book in the series will be out early 2016.

Another series that's good, is from Morgan Kelley Dangerous Revelations. It's about a vampyre who partners up with a detective and they solve crimes committed by other vampyres.

Bartimaeus

This book - Into The Abyss (into the abyss by Langland) - the main character is a normal person till they are transformed into a demon and sucked into another world.

I actually really enjoyed this book. Is the first in a self published series. You can get it in kindle or print copy from amazon.

You might also want to try Daemon EyesDaemon eyes by Camille Bacon Smith. This is a series about a detective agency run by demons.

Well this series isn't really considered horror - more like a dark urban fantasy but it does have horror elements laced within the series.

The first book is this one and the hero has a demon that resides within him giving the hero supernatural capabilities.
