Novel: Those Beyond the Wall by Micaiah Johnson

Novella: The Butcher of the Forest by Premee Mohamed (yes, I realize we've got one of hers coming up in July too... she's publishing four or five this year)
So as not to vote on two Premee books in one month, I'll switch to The Truth of the Aleke by Moses Ose Utomi because I enjoyed the first a lot.

MH | 307 comments Novel: Service Model, by Adrian Tchaikovsky. Since its too early for Alien Clay.

Novella: We Speak Through the Mountain - another Premee Mohamed. Its a sequel to The Annual Migration of Clouds, which was relatively interesting.

I'm on board! I enjoyed The Annual Migration of Clouds too.

earlier I wrote

novella: follow-up to this one of this month' reads: The Imposition of Unnecessary Obstacles by Malka Ann Older

Scratch this. I did not like the first one enough to read the second. So I will read a novella that you all chose

The poll for novella(s) https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/2...

Write here, should we read only the winner or the top two novellas?

At the risk of a million proliferating polls, it looks like we might have the same problem with the novels as we had before with just one poll, namely that people vote for their own nominee so we have a tie. Should we do a poll for your #2 novel choice to tie-break?

Making two polls on the same set is relatively easy, just copy-paste each nomination. I guess we just go with the current poll 'as is', if there are ties I guess i'll randomly choose one, but next month we may return to two polls with the same books.

The results of the polls:
Novel winner Service Model by Adrian Tchaikovsky
Novella winner (if one) The Practice, the Horizon, and the Chain by Sofia Samatar. If two then the second is We Speak Through the Mountain by Premee Mohamed

Let's do stick to just one novel, one novella.

I'm excited for both!

message 15: by MH (new)

MH | 307 comments I agree, one of each is fine.

Now to track these both down.

Ok, I guessed so, therefore hasn't added the 2nd novella to our bookshelf
