Which English mystery would you like to read with the group during July? Nominations are welcome. This time it is the turn of a golden age English mystery, so please choose a book written before about 1960.

Thanks!

Thanks Morgan - I suspect that will get quite a few votes!

Pamela Mclaren | 367 comments Boy, that tough to have to go up against Agatha Christie (especially I have been re-reading several of her works lately).

Just to make it slightly competitive, I'll nominate Tragedy at Law by Cyril Hare. Written in 1949, this introduces us to Hare's barrister Francis Pettigrew.

Excellent choice Pamela! We did have a group read of An English Murder a couple of years ago which proved very popular 😊

And for those who missed out, as Pam said her nomination is the first in the series. I think lots of us want to read him too, especially if he's just a familiar golden age name.

I will nominate "Quick Curtain" by Alan Melville

Let's have another nomination please 😊

KeenReader | 11 comments Can I nominate Crossed Skis by Carol Carnac? I didn't see it in the group's book shelf, so I don't think it's been chosen before. I've not read any of this author's books, but I like the sound of it. It was first published in 1952.

Sure, thanks Keenreader! We've enjoyed books by this author before (as E.C.R. Lorac).

Sorry Amy but we've already had that one as a group read. Shows it's a great choice though 😆
