Anyone read anything by Tad Williams? Thoughts? Impressions?

I was given a 4-book set of his Otherland series, the first book of which is City of Golden Shadow. A few years ago, I started The Dragonbone Chair, part of his first trilogy, Sorrow & Thorn. It reminded me a bit of Raymond E. Feist, but I got distracted & never finished it. I've never seen him on our usual award lists. Is he another Brandon Sanderson type, maybe?

Joe Santoro | 261 comments I read the first book of his Otherland series WAY back when I though any epic fantasy was good the more pages the better. I don't remember any of the details (Not even sure I finished it)

I do remember thinking I didn't need to keep going with the series.

Stephen Burridge | 1083 comments The only thing I ever read by Tad Williams was a story in the big Warriors anthology edited by George R. R. Martin and Gardner Dozois that was published a number of years ago. I don’t remember anything about the story except that I thought it was ok. Not very halpful I imagine.
