just got to chapter five, loving wren so far she really just doesn’t gaf about anything😭😭😭 slow ish start but there’s been lots of buildup and characterisation done which I really like

reached chapter 5! yeah def a slower start, but i think we’ll start seeing some action soon.. wren is a badass in a completely different way than jude and i’m loving it already. plus oak doesn’t have the instant ick factor that i was sorta expecting lmao

just reached chapter 10, all the scenes in the court of moths was so good, it definitely felt very cruel prince-y with the political court going-ons. wren continues to be awesome

at chapter 10 now (apologies, i got v busy and didn’t have a chance to write here!)

yess really liked the court of moths scenes! all the riddles and intricate ways of telling/avoiding the truth always fascinate me.. was glad to get more of that along with some politics.

of course oak is actually incredibly good at fighting.. who would’ve guessed considering his family members lmao. also wren being able to remove a curse placed by the high court?! impressive as hell omg

another 5 chapters today? ik it’s already evening there so it’s up to you

at chapter 15! the court of teeth is insane like it sounds so beautiful with the ice and then you hear all the backstory.. and then nore’s room?! WTF. like we know she’s evil but every new bit of information about her is still shocking somehow.

also wren finally talking to her sister and mother briefly?! hellO i am hoping for a good reunion sm

its definitely taken more time for me to get into this one as its not wren pov, but its so cool getting to know more about oak from having the focus be on him this time

yess it’s def cool seeing more about oak! i was a lil disappointed at first bc i was looking forward to more of wren’s pov but i am liking it much more at this point. plus we get to see wren at a different angle so technically not missing that entirely

i did really like it, i still think i enjoyed the 1st book with wrens pov a little more but they were pretty equal and i still flew through it
definitely warmed up to oak by the end of the book, that boy with his greenbriar trauma😭😭

there was definitely smth special about wren’s pov but i grew to really like hearing oak’s perspectives.. also those final few chapters where everyone suspects everyone else of betraying them? and wren’s rebirth omg.. not what we expected but what we needed loll

sounds like we’re set up for more jude and cardan content in the future?! just that casual mention that they’re going to the undersea on a mission.. okay holly 👀

have u heard other people thinking that oak being let out of the line of succession for the throne means that cardan & jude are gonna have a child?? idk how to feel about that and if it ever actually happens in a further book

honestly i could see that happening bc like.. how do u just decide to let the heir out of succession? ik they are technically supposed to rule for a long ass time but they should still have an heir and there’s no one else so??

i’m like can we just get more of jude and cardan for a bit before a child comes along lol

im split bc i usually hate any kind of pregnancy storyline or anything like that, but im sure holly black would be the person to write a storyline where it happens and have me like it

also have u read the little novella how the king of elfhame learned to hate stories? i just finished it as well and its very cute, with some gorgeous artwork

true i feel like she will find a way to make it work. as long as it’s a sideplot and we still get all the politics and action then i’m good lol

yess i read it a couple months ago! wasn’t my favorite but i did enjoy some of the stories. the artwork was so beautiful though, i loved the style and color palette! wouldn’t mind seeing some more of that in future books/novellas.. i need wren in that art style bc oml

i liked seeing into cardans pov a bit more as well.
have u also read that other novella, i think its about jude and taryn cant remember the name of it but i havent seen crazy high reviews for it so i dont think ill get it

yup read that one as well.. it looks at a bunch of scenes from the cruel prince but in taryn’s perspective. honestly wasn’t great bc taryn pissed me off during most of the folk of the air trilogy, so a lot of it felt like excuses/half apologies? but that’s just me

ok yeah love another pov but taryn did in fact annoy me, also in prisoner's throne she managed to annoy me again lmao even with her limited page time

FR like let’s just go tossing around accusations based on next to nothing? but yeah ever since her original betrayal she has annoyed me most of the time lol

the way i’m caught up on all the novels/novellas from elfhame.. now have to wait for another🫠

all my fav authors have been releasing/announcing new books for this year or next year so with my luck we'll get a new one soon lmao

i hope so! i’ve really grown to like the whole series/world so def looking forward to another book sooner than later
