Angie ~aka Reading Machine~ wrote: "Hi Team! Excited to be apart of this challenge while doing three other challenges."Hi Angie! I'm also doing three other team challenges right now! I like to TRY to use a different book for each one too. Its definately getting harder to do!
jingles wrote: "Hi Heather and Angie! Welcome to the team!!"Hi jingles! I have a question... im sure the answer is somewhere but I couldn't find it. I know we are spelling out our word but is it specifically by book title or can it be author also?
it's in the topic Pantheon vs Pantheon You can use
Title
Author first or last name
Characters first or last name
Series
Narrator first or last name
That I am not clear on. We actually need a team captain I think to help us get lined out and to work out a strategy (if we need a strategy and a plan that is), and to help us figure out what comes next.

we could just wait to see who else we get on our team who wants to be captain and then decide what to do if nobody does want it.
True that. And in the mean time, if we all start looking for the books we want to use for our team spell out of KNOWLEDGE, that would be good too. It at least gives us something to work on for when we get started. Kind of like a plan of action - if that makes sense?
Okay, it looks like the game begins May 3. Our goal is to spell out KNOWLEDGE as many times as we can, gaining 100 points for each time we complete it. The first team to read 20,000 points is declared the winner. It looks like there may be some extra point opportunities on the side - I'm not really clear on that.
Have you guys had time to look over the FAQ's and such?
There will be mini challenges so when can get more points, which is cool.Do you know about the 50 points we get if you read books with Norse Gods in the story?
I asked a question about characters in the FAQ's topic, to see if it's only main characters that count.
I did see that, Stephanie, about the 50 points. I think there is also so many points per book read?So it's my understanding that we spell out our word, and get 100 points each time we complete it. However, it also seems we get 20 points for each book between 125-250 pages. Books over 250 pages are worth 25 points. Then on top of that, if we read a book in which our Pantheon is the major theme, we gain an additional 50 points for that book.
I've included links to the messages where I found this info.
100 Points per Spelling
Book Points Breakdown
I'm rereading the series Immortals after dark which does include the gods Woden and Freya as how the Valkyrie came to be, now I looked up on line and Woden is another name for Odin so that would count right?
I am so lost about the gods, Stephanie. I wouldn't even begin to know how to answer. I wonder if there is a thread where we can ask for verification for things like that. I've not seen one yet, but one may be put up later on.Also, Joanne may know the answer. I think this is an area that she is very familiar with, so hopefully she can help.
I'm good with helping about the gods in our pantheon cuz I love mythology... I'll ask some faq questions and let u guys know what the mods say
Hi team!! Here's my shelf: Team Norse GodsI did say in my original post that I could captain but I'm a bit confused so that may not be the best idea. lol
Are these the gods we're trying to find in our books? http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/List...
I've never even heard of any of them so it'd be a damned miracle if I read a book that actually had one of these gods in it. :/
And what is our shelf for? Books we've already completed?
(are you seeing why my captaining may not be so great?)
Although I did just finish a challenge kind of like this, I think. Here's the spreadsheet I had: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...Is it kind of the same concept here?
Great, Joanne - I knew you would be able to help!Hi Shannon! Welcome to the team. I think we are all trying to find out how things are going to work right now, so we are in the same boat. Lol
I know it's early yet, but would it be helpful if I set up a google spreadsheet for us to plan and track our books and points?
jingles wrote: "I know it's early yet, but would it be helpful if I set up a google spreadsheet for us to plan and track our books and points?"Yes please! It's pretty helpful that we know the word we're going to be spelling so I'll pick a ton of books that'll fit somehow...hopefully with exactly 125 pgs. lol
So for an example, would we post like...Whit's End 126 pgs
W - Title
L - Author Laura Harner
K - MC Brody Kent
Then have the captain be in charge of filling in the blanks and moving things around if needed?
https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...Yeah well this is my shelf, I really didn't know how to insert the link to my shelf like you all did ;) Hope that's not too bad
Ceira wrote: "https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...Yeah well this is my shelf, I really didn't know how to insert the link to my shelf like you all did ;) Hope that's not to..."
Neither did I, Ceira. I had to ask for help and i still felt like a five year old trying to learn! :)
Angie ~aka Reading Machine~ wrote: "Gotta question~Do we need to share our Team Norse shelf with everyone? I'm confused!"Angie you just post your shelf here in this thread and Lizz who is in charge will post it in the #2 post up the top with everyone else shelves.
Looks like we are still missing shelf links for:Joanne
Angie
Dee (not checked in yet)
Danielle (not checked in yet)
Ceira, since your profile is set to private you will need to friend Lizz and the captain of our team (once we determine who that is) so that any books you read for the challenge can be tracked on the spreadsheet and verified. Otherwise, they can't see your shelf to verify your books. Hope that makes sense :)
I'll work on a getting a spreadsheet together.
