It didn’t look like Death heard Kai, so pretended he didn’t ask anything and stepped into his own cell, leaving Death behind in the hallway. Seems like Death had his mind preoccupied with something else, but never mind that. Kai put his thoughts back on his own cell, it was cool looking, not very welcoming either. Kai thought it is awfully lonely as well.

Kai turned around, Death was still there. It looked like he was in pain, so Kai asked “Are you feeling good? You look out of it.” Deep down Kai was worried for his new friend, though he didn’t want to show it.
Kai waited awhile long, and Death still didn’t reply. Kai wanted to know what was going on in his acquaintance’s head, so he closed his eyes and focused, when he opened them again they were white. Kai was in Death’s head. He didn’t like what he saw
Kai heard Death, but to get out of Death’s head he had to steal one of his memories, so he settled on a memory that was at the very end of his consciousness, one that was blurry. He wouldn’t ever remember that he had that memory. Kai “jumped” out of Death’s mind, and came back to reality.
Death's form changed, he now was in so called wolf for he had many Human characteristics though.
Kai look wide eyed as Death changed from his human from into his new one. He was utterly stunned with Death’s new form.
Death sighed as his head stopped throbbing. "And this is why I'm here." He was trying to find enough energy to conceal it but none remained.
“Wow, that was just amazing!!” Kai had no words to explain what he just saw. Kai had a question, and decided to ask it “But why did you change to your current form?”
"If you want the truth this is my Original form. I just conceal it to look normal." he decided it was time to explain. "I was an Orphan that no one wanted so i was put into a program that was for drug development. As you can see things didn't go as they planned."
“Ohhhhh, that makes sense. I’m basically an orphan as well, considering how my parents treated me after they figured out that I’m a “freak”. And left me in the woods to fend for myself…” Kai pretended not to care about his past. Since Death opened up, Kai wanted to return the favor by doing so himself, “I volunteered to be an experiment because I can’t take living homeless anymore. I taught myself what I needed to to survive, but it is so lonely there, out in the woods. I just hope it will be different here than what I left in my past.”
Kai agreed and they both made their way to the entrance. Once they left the cell, they had some small talk. Death continued the line of questions and comments, never making it awkward for either Death or Kai himself. Kai enjoyed Death’s company and hoped that he would continue to accompany him as long as they were both at this experiment facility.
When Kai got back into his room he sat down and started to think to himself. He stared at the wall and blanked out.
Kai spotted movement at the corner of his eye, so he came out of his daydream and found a woman around his age. It took him awhile to notice one more thing; she had wings.
Vesperines eyes caught on a male who had striking Grey eyes that were staring into hers. She gave him a curt nod and went to sit on the opposite side of the room. Once she settled she studied his features with curiosity.
She looked at him for a few moments, silence stretching between them. Finally she asked, "What's your name?"
“Malakai,” he said. “I prefer Kai.” 𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘮𝘴 𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘦. He still didn’t know what she was doing in his cell though, so he mumbled, “What are you doing in this cell?”
"Thats a wonderful name, Kai," she said. "No one was at the front entrance when I was brought here and so I was just left to wander. I saw you in here and you looked so gloomy so I thought I might keep you company," She gave him a slight smile.
Milla (almost out of semi-hiatus) wrote: "“But first, what’s your name?”""My name is Vesperine. But you can call me Vesp."
“Okay, nice to meet you Vesp, but you don’t need to give me company, I won’t EVER be alone. I got the monsters in my head to thank for that,” said Kai grudgingly.
Vesp looked at Kai thoughtfully. "Well having good company is better than bad company. Either way I don't know my way around and it'd be nice to know someone who does."
𝘚𝘩𝘦’𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨. 𝘎𝘰𝘰𝘥. “I guess you’re not leaving. I just got a tour from our neighbor, Death, so don’t expect me to know everything.” Kai voice was starting to sound clearer.
"That's fine! How long have you been here? and if you don't mind my asking why are you here?" Vesperine picked up on his tone change but said nothing.
“I lost track of time when I was with Death, but I think it has been a day or two.” Death thought about Vesp’s last question for a bit, and said, “I chose to be here. My parents died shortly after leaving me in the woods to fend for myself. They thought I was a disgrace, so…” Kai shrugged, and continued his story. “I living in the woods for a while, then I heard of this place or facility. I was tired of living in the woods, and eating grass when I couldn’t find anything else to eat. So… I came here.”
Vesp blinked at Kai. That's awful. He shouldn't have had to go through that. "Sounds like you have quite the tale to tell," she said, her tone neutral. "No one should have to go through that. I'm sorry for your loss," she looked at him with sympathetic eyes.
“Don’t be, they never treated me like their own son anyway. To be honest they might have been my foster parents, but they just didn’t want to tell me,” Kai shrugged again.
Vesperia looked at him again not sure what to say. "I see," is what she settled for. She internally cringed at the short reply but didn't show it on her face and instead offered a kind smile towards Kai.
