Hello reader friends!

Welcome to our first buddy read discussion board!
A couple things we need to cover before we get started... I will take a stab at covering most the questions but if you have any more feel free to post for everyone to see!

Each week a new "Discussion Topic" will be posted to cover the chapters we read for the week! Feel free to post and share from those chapters, even as we are reading them! Ideally, we all get through the chapters around the same time (or are at least ahead) so not to spoil anything. If you have to post a spoiler because it’s just too good not to share please start the post with *** “SPOILER” *** so we can all know in advance of reading.

As with most forums, please be kind and courteous to both fellow reading buddies and to the authors. I am all for sharing topics for debate about the plot, characters, fantasy world, ect. just keep it clean and friendly! This is an 18+ group, so we don’t have to be PG, just considerate and kind… ♥

The first book is relatively short, only 419 pages (paperback). I think around 200 pages each week is (hopefully) doable, maybe even too light for some… I mean, I will probably finish the book in a week – BUT to be fair for all speeds of readers, this is where I think we’ll start… We can tailor if need be – I will take a pulse at the end of week 1 and see how everyone feels. Reading schedule below:

Book 1: A Court of Thrones and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
Chapter 1 - Chapter 23 (222 pages)
Chapter 24 – End (205 pages)

Participation in group discussions is key to making these forums work – so the more engagement the more fun! Feel free to invite anyone you think would enjoy this forum – they don’t need to start with us. We have some who have already read the beloved books and just want to be part of sharing… Honestly, if they are interested in our books and can be kind and courteous – they’re welcome!

Last, I just want to say thanks for joining us here – and how excited I am to get this book and group started!

Jacy Post | 4 comments I’m so excited! This will be a re-read for me. I blew through it so fast the first time that I missed key points and want to do a deeper dive into it. Glad to have others to discuss this book with!

Rachel Burke | 1 comments I’m pumped to find other people who are just starting this series. I have read the first 2 books already, but will happily go back and re-read to comment along

Ashley.readwithme | 1 comments I’m so excited. I am doing a reread and annotating to get out of a slump. I can’t wait to have people to talk about things with besides my husband who has no idea what is going on 😂

Lillie Bastian (lbastian91) | 3 comments I'm so excited. I have already started and am at the halfway point, but can't wait to see what everyone thinks!

Love all the energy! I’m going to finish the book I’m reading (Diamond Don — it’s good!🥰) tonight and get started on ACOTAR tomorrow! Check back later this weekend for some initial prompts from me to generate conversation! However, feel free to post and share anything — remember engagement is key!

To kick off, let’s start by:

1) Sharing our name (if you’re comfortable)
2) What you’re most excited about reading the ACOTAR series is.
3) Then share something about reading or books! Whatever comes to mind!

I’ll go first!

1) My name is Kendall!
2) I’m most excited to know if all the hype around this series is worth it or just media powered!
3) I think books are the closest thing we have to experience “magic” because of their ability to transform us into people and/or places without ever leaving our own comforts! I have a couple romance books I’ve been writing for years and have made the commitment to finish at least one by the end of 2024! 🤪

Welcome everyone! Let’s go!!!!
🫶🏼

I started the book and am slightly disappointed in how slow it begins… anyone else feeling this?!? Gonna push through! lol…

ComeForMyTBR (readergrrl) | 5 comments Kendall--I feel you, the first few chapters are slow!

I'm Sarah. I'd like to eventually read the entire set of ACOTAR, TOG, and Crescent City novels. I've never fully committed to so many novels at one time, so I figured it would be good to start the journey with others!

message 12: by Lillie (new)

Lillie Bastian (lbastian91) | 3 comments The first few chapters were definitely slow, and then it picked up, and then it seems to get slow again (at least where I'm at). By the way, I'm Lillie, and I want to see what all the hype is with the ACOTAR series. I loved reading when I was younger and then stopped and have just now finally gotten back into it as a way to escape and relax.

Jacy Post | 4 comments Hey everyone! I’m Jacy. I loved to read years ago before life took over and responsibilities reigned supreme. I started ACOTAR on Mother’s Day and am finishing up ACOSF. I fell in love with the first book and I am looking forward to re-reading it as I know I missed some key points. I hope everyone enjoys their reading of this book! Can’t wait to hear everyone’s thoughts! Happy reading!

Welcome everyone and thanks for participating in the prompts! As I read I’m already excited to come back into this chat and talk through things. I can already tell that this book series is going to provide us lots of things to talk through!🤪

But seriously, it’s starting pick up for me and although I find I’m confused and am rereading a lot — I’m all in now! I definitely know I’m going to be a fan of Tamlin… I picture him like a mix between Charlie Hunnam and Liam Hemsworth… (swoon 🤤 🥰) not sure why! Anyone else picture him differently??

Also, Feyre’s sisters are wretched! That’s all! 🤣

message 15: by ComeForMyTBR (new)

ComeForMyTBR (readergrrl) | 5 comments I agree about Feyre's sisters. I think they are part of future books in the series, and I thought, how am I going to ever be able to empathize with those two? Time will tell ...

I don't have a strong image in my head of Tamlin, but I always picture him as Beast from Beauty and the Beast when he's in animal form, even though he is always described as having horns, etc.

I loooove the setting descriptions of the Spring Court. I want to live there!...well, maybe not with all the dangers that lurk...

message 16: by Joy (new)

Joy | 6 comments Hi all! My name is Joy!

I've had the hardest time posting to the group- and finally figured it out... I'm most excited about joining to read this book together. I have read TOG and Crescent City, and the first 3 ACOTAR. Happy to hear everyone is pushing through, I'm reading this a second time, listening on Audible - the dramatized version is free for Audible members right now. I can see how it's such slow start- I forgot all about this sluggish start...

I have a crazy overwhelming life, and books allow me to escape and maintain my sanity and peace.

Tamlin originally reminded me of Edward Cullen.
Sarah- The sisters are terrible - and made me think, Cinderella.. time will tell if we can move past their behavior.

I totally see the Beauty and the Beast connection and the Edward Cullen vibes!
