Hey everyone...

This thread/group read is something of a mash together. We were running late deciding a non-King book for July, and it just so happens that Gwendy's Button Box is next up in our 2nd pass through on King's library......

Also, since it's so short.......

We'll do the whole trilogy for July.

Gwendy's Button Box
Gwendy's Magic Feather
Gwendy's Final Task

Book 1 is a novella.
Book 2 was written by Chizmar only, checking our non-King box
Book 3 completes the cycle...

Pisces51 I cannot afford the outlay for the trilogy. I have Book 1 on hold at library. Does not look promising.I did read You Like It Darker which was also a challenge. I will be sitting this one out.

I broke out the first one today and read it straight through....

It was a reread for me, but needed that before tackling the other two...

Jacqueline (thereaderx1f4da) | 32 comments @Pisces51 Amazon has the trilogy box set for $28.49. I know how frustrating it can be when you put a book on hold at the library 📚 ugh 😑! Anyway I hope this helps. The physical books box set that is , I don’t know if you prefer physical copies to ebooks or audio books. Happy reading 📖!

I finished this last night, incredibly quick read due to the short length of the chapters. It was kind of okay with a few events happening here & there & I guess it helped continue Gwendy's story so we could have the third installment.
What I did keep noticing was the little nods to Stephen King's Castle Rock with various names thrown in here & there, as well as a few mentions of the Castle Rock fire of 1991.

I finished Book 3 the other day and have been processing lol....

There's a lot to pack in that short novel..

I finished the trilogy a couple of nights ago. I thought Gwendy's Final Task was better than the second one, probably because it was set in space & I like space. However, I kept getting the feeling that this one was mostly written by Richard with Stephen chiming in now & again about Trump ( enough already ) & Covid. Not much of it felt like Stephen's style.
The references to The Dark Tower series & IT will be lost on those who haven't read those books so I was a bit surprised the story went there.
One more thing, is it really possible to take a spacewalk in secret, wouldn't someone at mission control notice?

Squire (srboone) | 94 comments Ive only read the first snd the third books (the ones with King's name on the cover). But I pocked the second one yesterday, so I'll give it a go sometime

I did the same Squire, but finally read it. It was not as good as the King books, but still worth the read.

Ahmed Alaa | 5 comments In my opinion the first book was the best. Then the second and the third book felt alittle bit slow but the ending was good
