Hi everyone,

We are now at Chapter 9 of "Mercury" by Amy Jo Burns. Marley is pregnant. Waylon Joseph is the father. Not only does she have to worry about handling this pregnancy, she has to handle dealing with the difficult Joseph family. They are a package deal, especially with the family business. Can this family accept Marley as part of their family?

Chapter 9
Waylon was thinking about his life. He felt happy. He had Marley, a new baby coming and a job. He thought life was for once, not so bad. Or, at least he thought... He spoke to Baylor about Marley. He wanted Baylor to move forward with him without bad feelings. Baylor was not ready for that. He didn't want Waylon to ruin the family business. He promised he wouldn't. Elise talked to Waylon and asked how he planned to support Marley and the baby. Elise questioned Marley loving him. He made Elise angry by compariing his relationship to Elise and Mick.

Waylon didn't want his marriage to be like his parents. There were excuses and he didn't think there was love anymore with them. He wanted it to be different with Marley. He was hopeful.

Baylor was not ready to forgive Waylon. He was more concerned with saving the family business. Did Baylor have feelings for Marley? Or was it really about the the family business? Did both brothers feel the burden of saving the business because they could not depend on Mick Joseph to be reliable? Elise Joseph was not happy, but she wanted to be supportive to Waylon. She did not want her unhappiness to be the legacy for her children. Was Elise jealous of Waylon's new love with Marley?

What are your thoughts?

Have a good day.

Sincerely,

-Donna
