Hi everyone,

If you are reading with us, we are now at Chapter 13 of "Mercury" by Amy Jo Burns. Marley is trying to make positive things happen for the Joseph family, but are they welcome to her help? What do you think is going to happen when they find out about the job she secured at the church?

Chapter 13
Marley went to Jade's for Theo and Jade gave Marley a shampoo and a cut. Marley confided in Jade and told her she had been making sales calls too. She told Jade she had been saying she was Vice-President of the company, including the letters that had been mailed.

The Joseph family found out and the sons were not too happy about it. Baylor was very angry. He reminded Waylon about their agreement that Marley would not come between them and the family business. Mick seemed to think it was all funny and couldn't believe a woman was responsible for bringing in business. Marley reminded everyone that because of her "girly" stationery and sales tone, people wanted to speak with her and do business because of her style, not theirs. Mick suggested Marley be a secretary, which insulted Marley.

Marley left dinner upset. Waylon later came to talk with her. He didn't want his family to crush her efforts. She didn't go to the roof again. Being a mother was taking all of her time. Marley missed her mother. She saw how her life was becoming like Elise but her dreams came last. Mick's dreams always came first. Marley didn't want that to happen to her. Mick started to get demanding with Marley and where the checks went. Marley held her ground and told him that checks were going to the bank, not for him to personally cash. Mick was never told no. He was angry. However, he couldn't say much when business was going well all thanks to Marley and the small important jobs that the men did not want to do.

The secret was out and Marley's sales efforts did not make the Joseph men happy. Could Waylon handle his wife being in the family business? Can Mick stand back and let Marley take the lead? Mick Joseph was not used to being told no. Could he accept the honest truth from Marley? Could Marley hold her ground and fight back with the family demands? She has no true ally with Elise. Elise let Mick have his way. Now Marley was deposting the checks. Mick was used to handling the money. The problem was when he handled the money, the bigger their money problems grew...

What are your thoughts? Can Mick and Marley work together? Money...more problems coming?

Have a good day.

Sincerely,

-Donna
