NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11173 comments I Am, I Am, I Am: Seventeen Brushes with Death is a memoir of events and circumstances that shaped the life of Maggie O Farrell in some way. This is a fascinating, entertaining and personal story. It’s unlike any other memoir I’ve read. This isn’t a recitation of life traumas that should cause us to pity her. Each event reveals something different about her life, her family, risks we all face, travel, medical science, ethics, or the world in which he live. Some of the brushes with death were relatively small things, but the story of her pregnancy was particularly dramatic and infuriating. Her daughter’s story was quite poignant. I was already a fan of Maggie O’Farrell’s novels, but I have a new appreciation of the strength of this women, and I feel personally inspired. I highly recommend this book. It’s a fairly quick read.
