Excited about this one!!

I hope I'll get to join y'all this month. I have the audiobook on hold on Libby, but I have 3-4 weeks or so until I can borrow it, so I'm hoping I'll get it before the end of July.

I’m gonna check if the library has it and grab it next time I go if they do.

I just checked and it’s currently borrowed out at the library but I put a hold on it so I should get it soon.

I love this book. It might be my fav by Sepetys, although I also love I Must Betray You. I put it on hold when I saw it won the poll, so I'll just have to wait for it to get to my library.

I read this book just two weeks ago!!! But I'm excited to join the discussion nonetheless!

Our library says it has a copy, so I'll have to swing by their while I'm in town and see if it hasn't been picked up yet!

I will try to get it at my library!

The audiobook actually came in way sooner than it was originally supposed to, so I'll start it sometime today.

I don’t think I am going to because it stays fresh in my mind, and I am in the middle of so many books, but I have never discussed it with anyone else, so I am excited to do that much!

Yeah, I'm considering just not rereading it myself. I did place a hold on a library copy, but I've got so many library books, and I'm rereading Six of Crows.

Haha. I will be changing it again. Evangelise and I have agreed to do Katniss pfps sometime after the seventh. And I was considering doing another of my fav characters... But I'll always come back to either this, or something like it probably.

I picked up the library copy today, but... idk if I actually have time to reread it lol.

I won’t be able to get mine until next week. It’s on hold right now and I’m waiting on it to get in.

I'm not sure who has started this yet, but what do y'all think of Alfred. He's really starting to annoy me...

I have this book now, planning on starting it soon here.

I read this book. I read it pretty fast so I didn't make updates or anything on it. I LOVED the book!! I did groan every time it was Albert's POV, I didn't enjoy those. lol

Yes, he's SO annoying. What was his point in the story anyways?

So I have liked both Ruta Sepetys books that I've read since I learned about events I'd never heard of, and the stories are really fun. But she doesn't seem to have any character development. Her characters seem kinda two dimensional and flat. I don't know exactly what the terms mean but I feel like her books are more plot driven then character driven, maybe I'm wrong.

Maybe. That would make sense if that is the reason for him being there, though I have preferred it if his spot had been filled by the Shoe Poet.

And I like books where I love the characters, I haven't felt attached to any characters in either of her books.

Except one character in Fountains of Silence, but he... well, let's just say things didn't go well for him. lol

Yeah, I agree. I was hoping for some amazing character arcs, especially with Alfred, but it didn't happen...

Albert was such a dummkopf.

There wasn't character development in Fountains of Silence either as far as I can remember

I haven't read it yet, so I wouldn't know.

I do love her books so far tho! Just not her characters. lol

Wait, so his name is Albert? I thought it was Alfred.... I suppose that's what I get for listening to the audiobook.

I always get those two names mixed up. We have an Albert in school and for the longest time I couldn't remember if he was Albert or Alfred, he's a year and a half old now and I finally have it down 😂

@Bets, I agree with you. I felt like there wasn't much development with the characters in Salt to the Sea. But it still was a good story. Glad you liked it!
